The 2017 Miss Global Pageant will be held on November 18, 2017 in Cambodia.  It will be an extravagant and prestigious competition beyond just the physical beauty of women from all over the world. The contestants are encouraged to express their individuality with poise, grace, and wits. Miss Lily Wu will represent China at the Miss Global 2017 International Competition in Cambodia, where she will continue advocating for her platforms: Embracing Cultural Diversity and Empowering Women. Ethnically Chinese, Lily was born in Guatemala before immigrating to the United States. She is an award-winning journalist, public speaker, model, and community volunteer. Lily is a television reporter for the ABC affiliate in Kansas, KAKE News, and recently was awarded 1st Place for In-Depth News Reporting by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. She began her career in journalism as a teenager, hosting the award winning television show “Kidding Around Wichita” with Lily Wu.

Lily earned a Master’s of Journalism from the University of Hong Kong, where she also served as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar speaking on cultural goodwill and understanding in front of more than 50 Rotary clubs in Asia, Australia, and North America. She graduated summa cum laude at Wichita State University where she earned bachelors’ degrees in International Business and Integrated Marketing Communications. She was named Wichita State University’s Gore Scholar in 2003, Woman of the Year in 2005, and as one of five Senior Honor Women for the Class of 2007.

Lily began modeling as a teenager after being selected as a finalist in the “Maybelline and Teen Magazine Great Model Search.” She was Miss Teen Kansas International 2003, and represented the USA at Miss World University 2004 and Miss Chinese World 2005. In 2012, she was crowned Miss Kansas United States and also won the “Dancing with the Local Stars”. Lily is an active community volunteer for various organizations. In 2015, she was named a Leader in Diversity by the Wichita Business Journal for her role as the Wichita Asian Association’s youngest president. She currently serves as director of the Miss Wichita Asian Festival Scholarship Pageant and board member for the Wichita State University Alumni Association. She has previously served on the boards of the Wichita Orpheum Theatre, Botanica Chinese Garden of Friendship, Students in Free Enterprise, and Diversity Kansas.
